Baradla-cave, long tour

Tour/trip details: The trip covers 7 kilometers of the main branch of the cave system from Aggtelek to Jósvafő. It includes most of the Aggtelek short tour of the showcave followed by a 4 kilometers long unpaved section. The way follows the stream of Styx, and passes the Irongate which around 1825 was a temporary sump, which was passed first by a famous Hungarian scientist named Vass Imre. The general size of the cave is big; the formations are excellent. The end of the trip arrives at the renewed showcave part with the entrance from Jósvafő, with excellent lighting and dripstone forests.

Tour/trip grade: Easy for cavers, but a fairly long walk

Clothing and/or equipment: overall, electric light source, helmet, gumboots
